Roman Furniture Fitting
Description
English: Fragment of Roman copper alloy round-section possible furniture leg, both ends broken. The diameter remains constant from one break as far as a bulbous moulding. Beyond this an encircling rib marks the start of a narrower length which runs to the break. Cf. two slightly larger examples from Caistor St Edmund, Norfolk (HER 37008, Ashley and Rogerson 2009, 559, fig. 5 no. 19). Extant length 50.5mm. Diameter 6.5 - 16.5mm. Mid 1st - 4th century.
