Description |
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman Dragonesque plate brooch. The s-shaped plate is slightly twisted at one terminal. In the centre and widest part of the plate is a hemispherical boss set in an annular groove. The foot and head are decorated with the same design, of enamel inlay in the form of concentric rings, red in the outer ring, then yellow or green and finally blue in the centre. There is also a pellet of red enamel of the end of both terminals. None of the pin mechanism survives. The length is 48.8mm, the width is 23.5mm, the thickness in the centre is 5.9mm and the weight is 15.39g. |
