Title
Roman Coin Hoard. Treasure case no. 2008 T558 (reverse)
Description
English: CARISBROOKE, ISLE OF WIGHT

Richard Abdy

28 AE dupondii / asses to AD 167 BM ref.: 2008 T558

Circumstances of discovery Found with the aid of a metal detector by several members of the Isle of Wight Metal Detecting Club, 5.10.08

Note This Antonine dupondius / as hoard is in generally very poor condition with most of the coins unidentifiable. The latest identifiable coin is for Lucius Verus, with Parthia captive beneath trophy; a type struck in combination with his tribunician titles of TR P V to VII, giving an apparent closing date to the hoard of AD 167.

Dispostion Returned to finders, digital images taken for www.finds.org.uk (photo ref by numbering system in footnotes after each weight). (PAS ID = IOW-AIC483)
