Title
Roman Coin : Contemporary copy Denarius of Orbiana
Description
English: A silver plated copper alloy contemporary copy Denarius of Orbiana dating to the period AD 225 - 227 (Reece Period 11). CONCORDIA AVG reverse type depicting Concordia seated left holding patera and double cornucopiae. Mint of Rome.

RIC IV, pt.2, p.96, no.319.

Comment from P. Walton: The coin has been cut to display only the bust and it is possible that it was intended to form a decorative element of another object. Such treatment is paralleled in a medallion from the Lexden Tumulus from Colchester where a denarius of Augustus was cut down to form the central design and in CAM-EC24C6, a cut down denarius of Julia Mamaea.
