Title |
Roman Bead |
||
Description |
English: Roman opaque turquoise glass melon bead with eighteen longitudinal gadroons. Both the overall form and the perforation are ovoid. The quality of the gadrooning clearly shows this is a Roman rather than post-Roman example (Guido 1978, 100, Guido 1999, 52-3), though it is very large. Diameter 23 - 26mm. Length 19mm. Perforation 9.5 - 12mm. Weight 10g. Mid 1st - 2nd century. |
