Title
Roman : Nail cleaner
Description
English: A Roman copper alloy nail cleaner probably of Crummy type 2a dating from the mid 1st to early 2nd century AD. The cleaner is almost complete with a circular suspension loop at the top, and a rounded collar beneath it. The main body (shaft) is leaf shaped; it curves out below the collar to 14.1mm wide then curves back in to the elongated lower part which should end in a double-pronged terminal. However, the tip of the nail cleaner has been broken off. The shaft is a flat rectangle in cross section. The front surface has been decorated with a single vertical incised line. Parallels are known from the PAS database for example record SUSS-4C80D7.
