Description
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy dragonesque brooch of Roman date. The brooch is curvilinear forming a roughly S-shaped piece which is decorated with a central rectangular panel with three lozenge shaped cells filled with yellow enamel. The resulting triangular cells between these two elements are filled with red enamel. The panels to either side of the rectangular element are decorated with scroll or wave type designs again infilled with red enamel. The reverse is flat and undecorated.

The metal has a light brownish-green patina and is worn. The brooch is 24.3mm long, 12.6mm wide, 3.1mm thick and weighs 2.9g.
