Title |
Roman (possibly) steelyard weight |
||
Description |
English: A Roman lead steelyard weight. The weight is bi-conical, worn and corroded, and has a central iron portion, which protrudes at the bottom and terminates in a broken loop at the top. Overall, the object measures 31.6mm high by 24.4mm wide and weighs 40.32g. Similar weights were found at Bancroft Roman villa (Williams and Zeepvat, 1994, p.347), but were all unstratified metal detector finds. |
