Description |
English: Cast copper-alloy hooked strap-fitting. “Soldier/settler” period, AD350-425. Mass: 7.2g; length: 51mm, width: 23mm. The fitting consists of an openwork plate with a zoomorphic head facing backwards and a rearward facing integral hook on the underside of the zoomorphic head. The zoomorphic head has ring and dot eyes, a pronounced nose, and a median groove running backwards from between the eyes. The front of the fitting is also decorated with angled grooves and ring-and-dots. There are four small circular ?rivet-holes on the fitting in addition to larger openwork features. |
