"John Weller, esq. rear-admiral of the navy, died here possessed of it in 1772, he gave it by will to his brother Nicholas, who died in the East-Indies, and his son Mr. Robert Weller, is the present (1798) possessor of it." (Hasted). Robert Weller (1764-1839) died 11th May 1839 aged 75yrs. His Will and Probate dated 18th July 1839 may be found at the Nat.Arch.Kew. (Altar Tomb) In memory of Alexander WELLER of Rolvenden who died 1671 and his wife Joan. His sons Alexander, John and Richard and also of Tobias (son of Alexander last mentioned) who died 1689. Near this stone is also interred Captain John Weller Royal Navy son of Tobias who died 1752 aged 61. Likewise his son Admiral John Weller who died 1772 aged 51. Brother of Captain Nicholas Weller who died in the East Indies also in 1793 aged 67 Catharine widow of the above Nicholas daughter of the Right Reverend Charles CARR, Bishop of Killaloe in Ireland and William her son who died 1791 aged 22. In memory also of Lieutenant Colonel Francis Weller, second son of the above named Nicholas Weller who died on 22 January 1837 at Glasgow N.B. aged 73 years, of Rosamond his wife who died on the 1st November 1831 at Tonbridge Wells and of William their son a midshipman in the Royal Navy who died on the 22nd August 1824 off the coast of Africa in the 26th year of his age. [On North side] In memory of the eldest daughter of Nicholas Weller before mentioned who died in 1824, her husband Lieutenant Colonel Eidingtoun of Gargannock House, Stirling, N.B. who died in 1800 and of their son James Eidingtoun who died November 12 1837 at Duagh House, Listowel County Kerry, Ireland. 79. (Altar Tomb) Shield of Arms. Quarterly 1 and 4: Two chevrons between 3 roses 2 and 3 , on a bend engrailed 3 martlets, Crest a greyhounds head erased holding in the mouth a rose slipped. To Robert WELLER of Kingsgate House, Rolvenden, died 11 May 1839 aged 75. Miss Mary Weller, spinster sister of above, died at Kingsgate House 2 December 1849 aged 81. 80. Three flat stones. C.W. – W.W. – J.W. 81. A cross. Christian Jane wife of Major T.M.M. WELLER and daughter of the late John BAIRD Esquire Justice of the Peace Lanarkshire, died 29 October 1866. Erected by her husband. 82. Daniel WELLER son of Richard Weller and grandson of Alexander Weller of Kingsgate in Rolvenden, died 30 June 1762 aged 79. 83. Thomas Montague Marlin WELLER, Justice of the Peace of Kingsgate in this parish, Lord of the Manor of Rusthall, Tunbridge Wells and formerly Lieutenant Colonel West Kent Light Infantry Militia Born 11 October 1803, died 15 April 1888. Mary Anne wife of Thomas Montague Marlin Weller and daughter of the late James SWORD of Westhorn Lanarkshire Born 9 July 1818 died 15 August 1899. |
