| Description |
English: Rolling mill engine, Blists Hill This is the engine that drives the large roughing rolls in the re-erected wrought iron works. Like much of the plant here it came from Thomas Walmsley's Atlas Forge in Bolton. It is demonstrated in steam occasionally. It is thought to be possibly 1850s vintage and possibly by J & E Wood of Bolton, although as far as I know there is no definite corroborating evidence. |
