| Description |
This is the final photo from a 6,000-mile, two-week road trip that had eaten up most of October 2000. Fed up with the dot-com bust in the San Francisco Bay Area, I wanted to be away from there, and eventually move away for good. One consideration for my road trip was to end it in Southern California, which had been my longtime home until I relocated to the Bay Area a year earlier. I would eventually move back to Southern California - but only after another year, including seven miserable months in Tucson, Arizona. Beverly Hills is the location where I get the final bit of that Southern California home vibe, before I make my evening drive back north, arriving in Concord close to midnight. At this time, I was wishing I was cruising down Rodeo Drive in a car that is more expensive and cleaner; now with a much nicer car (but nowhere as nice as the super-expensive cars that often show up here), I find that I vastly prefer coming here in a city bus, free from parking headaches. |
