November 1905, withthree other specimens. All five wereborn in May 1905, and were captured inthe mountains north of Fort Steele. Since the arrival of the little herdin New York, all its members havebeen maintained in excellent health.They are fed on very clean crushed oats(in the hull), sliced carrots and potatoes,an occasional apple and all the cloverhay they can eat. There are three adult males and two females, and they havebeen given three large corrals and a rus-tic barn in the southwestern corner of thePark. For amusement and excercisethey climb all over the roof of the barn,and spend much time aloft. Although very level-headed and calm intimes of real danger; the Mountain Goatis shy of being handled, and petted andwith nervous impatience flings itselfaway from an outstretched^hand.
