Description
English: View down the Columbia River (westward, toward the Pacific) from the Rock Fort Campsite at The Dalles, Oregon, United States, where the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped both westbound in 1805 and eastbound in 1806, is listed on the US National Register of Historic Places. This image also illustrates the high stone palisades that made this an advantageous campsite for both the Expedition and others.
