A more direct route toEnnerdale is by Wind Yatt (or Windy Gap), a pass2,400 feet high, between the Pillar and the Ked Pike.On the northern or Ennerdale side of the Pillar moun-tain is the famous Bock, beloved of climbers great andsmall. It springs up vertically from the steep felJside, with a north face like a cathedral-front 500 feet high. From the summit of the fell a descent of 400 feet ofsteep rock and scree will bring us to the nearest partof the crag. From the Liza Biver at the bottom ofthe valley we have 1,100 feet of grass and scree totackle before reaching the lowest buttresses thatsupport the great wall.
