Founded by Lord Ryche in 1567, according to a plaque in the gable ends, but probably built c 1600, these almshouses in West Street comprise "6 self-contained bedsit accommodations for senior citizens of single status, who have lived or worked in Rochford for many years, do not own their homes and that capital does not exceed social services limit" according to the Essexonline website. |
