Description
English: ESA's DSA (Deep Space Antenna) 3 antenna, a 35-meter antenna located in an area 30 km south of the town of Malargüe in Mendoza province, Argentina. It is part of part of the ESA Tracking (ESTRACK) network.
Italiano: Antenna DSA 3 dell'ESA. E' un'antenna di 35 metri che si trova a 30 km a sud di Malargüe, nella provincia di Mendoza, Argentina. Fa parte della rete dell'ESA ESTRACK che gestisce le comunicazioni con i satelliti nello spazio profondo.
English: DSA 3 is the last of three 35-meter ESA's antennas designed for transmitting and receiving radio waves to and from the deep space (about two million kilometers from the Earth). DSA 1 is located in Australia, DSA 2 in Spain, while DSA 3 was constructed in an area 30 km south of the town of Malargüe in Mendoza province, Argentina. The three antennas are separated by about 120 degrees in longitude to ensure a continuous coverage of ESA's satellites and to compensate for the Earth's rotation. The Malargüe station incorporates state-of-the-art technology. Its technical facilities comprise Ka-band reception (31.8-32.3 GHz) and X-band transmission and reception. It is prepared to host Ka-band transmission (34.3-34.7 GHz) and K-band reception (25.5-27 GHz). The dish is 35 m in diameter and the entire structure is 40 m high; its moving antenna weighs 610 tonnes.
