English: Robe (China), 19th century
Description
English: Robe closing diagonally across the shoulder and under the right arm. Made of dark purple silk in gauze weave with medallions of dragons and floral designs. Trimmed with a wide black silk band embroidered in shades of blue with flowers, butterflies, and auspicious symbols; and a narrow green band woven with floral designs. Fastenings are four silk frogs with four spherical brass buttons.
