| Description |
English: A view across the River Avon in Stratford, Warwickshire, of the demolition at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company's refurbishment programme. On the left is rounded end of the original 1879 Victorian Gothic theatre, now housing the Swan Theatre. In the centre is the fly tower and on the right is the remaining main auditorium riverside wall of Elizabeth Scott's 1932 Memorial Theatre. The riverside front which used to house the restaurant has been demolished and the blue girders support the remains of the main auditorium wall.
The riverside trees have been pollarded. |
