Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The River Severn on the right, with the entrance to Gloucester Lock on the left and Lock House (the lock keeper's house) in the centre (painted white). The large building behind is Lock Warehouse.

Normally the water level in Gloucester Docks is higher than the river level and the lock gates are angled towards the docks to prevent the water escaping into the river. In this photograph the river is in flood and the flood gates (angled towards the river) have been closed to prevent river water flooding into the docks.

This is a photo of listed building number 1245604.

This is a photo of listed building number 1271746.
