Summary
[edit]DescriptionRiver Rother, Fittleworth Bridge - geograph.org.uk - 1495960.jpg |
English: River Rother: Fittleworth Bridge Please see the captions to Colin's 981023 and Simon's 1239458 for the history of the bridge. The Ordnance Survey map of 1880 shows a towing path on the bank, on the right side here, demonstrating the navigable nature of the waterway. Interestingly Colin's mage of September 2008 shows a large build up of mud under the right side arch. A year later and it is clear, presumably removed to ensure that in a flood event water flows as efficiently as possible through the bridge openings. |
