Summary
[edit]DescriptionRiver Erosion and Biological- Mechanical Weathering - geograph.org.uk - 305302.jpg |
English: River Erosion and Biological/ Mechanical Weathering Outcrop of red sandstone downstream from Barskimming road bridge on the right hand bank of the R. Ayr. The sandstone is being undercut here by the river causing the slope above it to become unstable and liable to collapse. Erosion of the rocky bank of the river is further aided by the action of the many tree roots which force their way into and along the joints and bedding planes in the rock, causing it to disintegrate. |
