Description
English: River Don near Middlewood Tavern, Oughtibridge. The River Don follows the route of the A6102 for many miles, sometimes close to the road, sometimes a little further away ... at this point it sweeps round very close to the road. In June 2007 a lot of the riverbank and the road on top was washed away. Finally repaired and re-opened in December 2008. The 'loss of all the trees' has meant that this view of the river is 'opened up' and you can see the site of one of the former fords which enabled horse drawn carts to cross the river instead of going the long way round via Wadsley Bridge.
