Description
English: River-Kakogawa-cutter boat
日本語: オールを漕いで進ませる手こぎボートの一つで、マストや帆を備えているものは帆走することができ、大きさは、5m～10m程度である。本来の目的が、遭難者の救助、緊急時の脱出、船舶間の連絡、物資の小運搬であるため、通常は目立つように白色に塗られている。救命艇の主流が動力船となった今でも、自衛隊、船員養成学校、水産高校、海洋少年団、中学校の野外学習などでの訓練が行われ、競技の一つとなっており全国大会も開催される。また、小学生の体験学習や競技会などで船に慣れ親しむ道具として用いられることもある。 主に、榛名湖や琵琶湖、若狭湾で体験学習が行われている。
