La serie dedicata all'iconografia sabauda, allargata ai regnanti imparentati con la casata piemontese, è ascrivibile ad un anonimo pittore piemontese seicentesco, che prese spunto dalla teoria iconografica commissionata da Carlo Emanuele I per la grande Galleria del Palazzo Ducale a Torino. Serie analoghe si ritrovano, infatti, in molte residenze sabaude (si veda, ad esempio, il Castello di Racconigi (CN)). Il dipinto risulta pendant del ritratto di Vittorio Amedeo II, conservato anch'esso nella Villa" |
