English: So-called Portrait of Louis XIV of France (1638-1715)
Italiano: "Nelle due schede di restauro conservate nell'Archivio dell'Opificio delle Pietre Dure sono riportati i due numeri d'inventario P. Imperiale 81 e 757 , putroppo però indicati in maniera diversa: in una scheda infatti si dice rappresentino rispettivamente il numero Esp. e quello Imp., nell'altra si dice l'opposto. La consultazione dell'Inventario della villa del 1860-186 1 ci aiuta: mentre al numero 81 (Inv. 1836, al quale corrisponde il numero rosso minio 289) vi è una "femmina allattante Bambino", al numero 757 (In v.1836) (al quale corrisponde il numero rosso minio 213) troviamo la segue nte descrizione: "Uno detto simile [un quadro in tela] B: 1 3/4 a B: 1 nel quale vi è dipinto un principe vestito di ferro, con ornamento scorniciat o tinto giallo e oro". Sebbene nella scheda di restauro venga identificato come ritratto di Andrea Scacciati, il gentiluomo effigiato mostra una str etta somiglianza fisionomica con un ritratto di Luigi XIV (Inv. 1890, n. 2 556; cfr. "Pittura francese...", p, 223, fig. LVI), a tal punto da indurre ad identificarlo con questo personaggio. La fascia azzurra con ricami dor ati che l'uomo porta alla vita, anche se non decifrabile nel dettaglio, po trebbe così essere un riferimento al motivo del giglio dorato in campo azz urro della monarchia di Francia" [1] |
