Summary
[edit]DescriptionRising Tides - Flickr - dualiti.net.jpg |
The are an estimated 400 billion stars in the Milky Way, and that number may seem unfathomably large. But consider this; there are an estimated one quadrillion (1,000,000,000,000,000) Bristlemouth fish in the world's oceans. That's 15 zeros. Even if we consider all other large vertebrate lifeforms of 24 billion chickens, 15 billion rats and 7 billion humans, Bristlemouths are still 22 million times more populous. Thats almost a dozen per square metre of ocean. Estimates make the case that there are still a million species in the world's oceans yet to be discovered.
