Description
Deutsch: Als Rippel bezeichnet man wellenförmige Muster im Sand. Zu fossilen Gesteinen verfestigt verraten Rippel viel über die Umwelt längst vergangener Zeiten.

Hier sieht man die Entstehung von Strömungsrippeln in einem schnell ablaufenden Priel am seeseitigen Strand der Nordseeinsel Wangerooge.

Strömungsrippel entstehen nicht nur in Prielen. Ein anderer typischer Entstehungsort sind Flüsse. Ein Bild eines als Tagebaufolgelandschaft modellierten Abschnittes des kleinen Flusses Inde im Rheinland zeigt für einen solchen Fluss typische Strömungsrippel.
