Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 31-38 cm; Weight: .8-1.1 kg; Identification: The ringtail cat has a gray or brown coat with white spots above and below the eyes and on the cheeks. The tail has black and white rings; Habitat: Dry, rocky areas; Diet: Omnivore: insects, small birds, mammals, reptiles, fruit, berries; Reproduction: The breeding season for ringtails falls between April and May. Three offspring are born after a gestation period lasting 45-50 days; Behavior: Ringtails are nocturnal. They are expert climbers and build their nests in hollow trees, logs, and buildings; Status: No special status.
