Title
ring brooch with flower elements
Description
English: Silver ring brooch consisting of twisted wire and cast floral elements. The ring has been divided into four quadrants for the purposes of decoration. Two quadrants of wire are plain, on opposing sides of the ring, and the other two are twisted. Each quarter has one applied rosette at either end, so that there are four in all. Each rosette is 12.8 mm in diameter and 2.4 mm in thickness. The outer layer of oxidisation has broken off in places either side of each rosette to reveal the inner core of the ring. The pin of the brooch is also missing.
Bailey (1992) illustrates a similar example on page 48, Fig.6, No.6 which he dates to the 13th to 15th centuries.
