Notes Mauser Model 1895 bolt action rifle, Anglo Boer War "Taken from the Boers during the SA War, 1900". Acquired by the New Zealand Government as a war trophy, SAT 1033. Owner's name carved on butt- "N.C.MEYER" and illustration of fish At the time of the Anglo Boer War Nicholas Casparus Meyer was a 27 year old burgher who farmed at 'Dieplaagte' in the district of Bethal in the ZAR (Zuid Afrique Republik).
