Description

De Riedijkshaven is de voormalige ingang van de Vest. De Vest verwijst naar vesting, een gracht om de stad Dordrecht / Thuredrecht.

Achter de sleepbootjes ligt nu een pompgemaal. In vroegertijd lag hier een hefbrug met een sluis om kleine vaartuigen in en uit te laten. Deze sluis ging alleen bij laag water open. Dit om het laag gelegen achterland te beschermen.
