Plate 2 from Rickman (1817)

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Plate 2 from: Rickman, Thomas (1817) An attempt to discriminate the styles of English architecture, from the Conquest to the Reformation, London: Longman, Hurst, Rees, Orme, and Brown

Outlines of the Grecian and Roman Doric. The Grecian nearly accords with the best Athenian examples, but on this scale the minute parts cannot be shown of their exact size, particularly the fillets of the capital. The Roman is that which has been many years used in England, as the standard of Roman

Doric, and is nearly that of Palladio.
