Summary
[edit]DescriptionRichmondUnderwearFactory.JPG |
English: In 1900, New Yorkers J.S.Baker of Peekskill and I.H.Goodwin of New York City launched Richmond's first modern industry, manufacturing women's and children's muslin undergarments. The first establishment in town to be powered by electricity, the Richmond Underwear Factory employed more than 100 workers inside a two-story 150' by 52' facility, making thousands of garments a day for wholesale distribution. The Goodwin-Baker Building is now office space. |
