English: The Richfield Oil Corporation type T2-SE-A1 tanker David E. Day in port, circa in the early 1950s. She was built in 1945 by Kaiser Shipyards, Portland, Oregon (USA), for the United States War Shipping Administration as Coxcomb Hill and was sold to the Richfield Oil Corporation, Los Angeles (USA), in 1947. Renamed David E. Day in 1951, she was sold to Locust Tankers Inc., Wilmington, North Carolina (USA) in 1957. The ship was finally scrapped at Brownsville, Texas (USA), in 1976. The deck of the U.S. Navy T2 tanker USS Kennebec (AO-36) is visible in the foreground. As Kennebec was recommissioned on 11 January 1951, the photo was probably taken in 1951. |
