Richard John Seddon, Prime Minister of New Zealand, his wife, his daughters Mary and Louise, Frederic Wallis, (Anglican Bishop of Wellington) and his wife, W Crow (Seddon's private secretary), British Consul to Samoa Thomas Cusack Smith, and the Samoan King, Malietoa Laupepa. Members of the group are seated and standing in front of a wall of woven mats. Photographed in 1897 by an unknown Photographer. On the 15th of April, 1897, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Richard John Seddon and party left Wellington on the RMSS Alameda to attend the Diamond jubilee of Queen Victoria. Their first port of call was Apia Samoa where these photographs were taken. |
