Summary
[edit]DescriptionRevox B215 - Dolby PCB - new caps - top.jpg |
English: Revox B215 cassette deck - double Dolby board after wholesale capactitor replacement. CBB21 polypropylenes, Nichicon Muse electrolytics. I took the liberty to leave the small polyesters in place. The added relay (blue, on the left edge) shorts the CMOS switch "contacts" in normal recording mode, eliminating any distortion introduced by the CMOS. The relay is normally off (contacts closed), and will be energized (contacts open) only during tape calibration, or when the MPX is selected. But who needs MPX these days? |

Easy mod: a relay shorting the relevant CMOS switch in normal recording mode. The CMOS stays in place, and works alone in calibration and MPX modes. The empty space on the other side of the PCB was a solid copper ground pad - making hand-carving pads and tracks very easy. However, the copper is very fragile and tends to peel off during soldering. It's almost 40 years old. One day, the old glue will fall apart completely.
