earnestly and emphatic-ally urge the adoption of an amendment to the Na-tional Constitution, extending the term of office ofthe President of the United States to six years, andproviding that no person who has been President ofthe United States shall thereafter be eligible to the sameoffice. We therefore respectfully request the Congressnow in session to propose an amendment to the Na-tional Constitution that will speedily accomplish thisend. This resolution, though publicly read before theconvention, was not debated nor brought to the testof a vote. But it expresses a sentiment which is soprevalent among thoughtful men that one can seldomfind in private conversation a member of any politicalparty who does not entertain it. The resolation wasduly published as an appendix to the volume of pro-ceedings of the Tenth Republican National Conven-tion that Col. Charles W.
