These are real, genuine heroes,whose virtues our boys may safely copy. CAMP ACTIVITIES Other things boys love to do. At all timesthey have over them a Scoutmaster, whosecredentials have been approved and who isreally their physical, mental, and charactertrainer. He watches over them and guidesthem in their play and their various activities,trains them in alertness, self-reliance, andother Scout virtues. His aim is to turn outuseful, self-reliant, alert, honest citizens. The idea of Scoutcraft appeals strongly toour youth. It is not a religious movement,although all religions endorse it, for we takethe middle road and go no farther than theFatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. It is not a militarymovement, for militarism isconspicuous by its absence;it is not nature study, forthere are hundreds of soci-eties devoted entirely to thatsubject which are unknownto fame; it is not athletic, forthere are thousands of un-known athletic associations;it is not woodcraft. It isall these things and more putin a way that strikes theboys as manly and helpful.In
