Title
Reverse of square headed brooch
Description
English: Incomplete gilt copper alloy Great Square-headed brooch. Only the lower half below the bow survives. The brooch has a lozenge shaped panel with a circular lappet to either side. These two lappets show evidence of silvering on the surface. The foot is semi-circular and is broken. There are two sets of four linear grooves running down the lozenge shaped panel and curling up into the semi-circular foot. In between the grooves are two triangles pointing towards the lappets. There is a broken catchplate on the reverse.
