William Wishart is a minister ofthe United Presbyterian denomination.He spent his early years on his fathersfarm in Belmont County, Ohio, and wasaccustomed to hard work and plain liv-ing. Having a great desire for an edu-cation, he entered Madison College, inGuernsey County, Ohio, and was grad-uated in 1842. He studied theology inCanonsburg, Pa., in the Associate Sem-inary (now the U. P. Seminary in Xenia,Ohio), which was then located in thatplace.
