The gravestone of Reverend John Henry Gavin (1831–1868), in plot G1123, Grove Road Cemetery, Harrogate, North Yorkshire, England. Gavin was the first minister of West Park Congregational Church, Harrogate. The inscription says: "In memory of the Rev. John Henry Gavin, first pastor of the New Congregational Church Harrogate, who died January 23rd 1868 at Douglas Isle of Man, aged 38 years. Also Mary his wife who died Oct 12th 1905." There is a quotation in copperplate script below, beginning with the word, "precious". The rest is now illegible. |
