Text

[edit]

The Rev. Charles S. Kemble. During the years we had known the Rev. Charles S. Kemble, pastor of the Scotch Plains Methodist Episcopal Church, we had always thought of him as a young man. Actually he was 72 when he was unexpectedly taken from our midst. All of us could learn many lessons from the Rev. Mr. Kemble. Although he had reached an age when many men and women complain of their advancing years, he always told how young he felt and he fostered that youthful feeling by taking an intense interest in everything that happened. The Rev. Mr. Kemble was kindly. He had a cheery greeting for everyone and the sick room never lacked for brightness while he was present. But the Rev. Mr. Kemble was more than a pastor. He was a scholar. He was an educator. He was a philosopher. And above all, he was a man.
