Description
The J. Lotz (callsign NQRW) was built by Christian Bom on the island of Thurø in 1905. It was named after the grocer Jørgen Johan Lotz of Skelskør, who was a partner in a shipping company led by the builder, Christian Bom. The painting was done by Reuben Chappell of Goole. On July 30, 1917 the ship was sold to a company led by C.L. Andersen of Rødby, and on August 4, 1917 it became the Syltholm of Rødby. On November 19, 1917 it drifted ashore on Iceland and was wrecked there. The crew was saved. When the new church of Rødbyhavn was consecrated in June 26, 1966, a model of the Syltholm was carried into the church, where it is now a votive ship.
