Waagens in Italien Sammlung: Gemäldegalerie Die Zuschreibung dieses hervorragenden Portraits an Catena ist stilistisch nicht zu widerrufen, daher wird die Möglichket es mit dem einzigen durch Vasari erwähnten Werk Catenas zu identifizieren wahrscheinlich. Raimund Fugger (1489 - 1535) war Händler am Fondaco dei Tedeschi, Venedig und wegen seines gezeigten Alters, nicht weniger als 30/35 Jahre, darf das Portrait in die späten Jahren von Catenas Tätigkeit, d.h. um 1520/25 datiert werden. Die Gesichtszüge des Fuggers kann man mit mehreren anderen Werken vergleichen (Medaille von F. Hagenauer, Zeichnung von H. Burgkmair und Radierung in ´Pinacoteca Fuggerorum` (Tafel 9). In diesem Werk ist Catena weit von den Beispielen eines Giovanni Bellini entfernt, seine Orientierung geht in Richtung Raffaels (wie auch im signierten Portrait des Kunsthistorischen Museums in Wien) und Tizians. Vermutlich im Mai 1945 im Leitturm des Flakbunkers im Berliner Friedrichshain vernichtet. |
