Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Resurrection Health Center, 1609 Genesee Street at Doat Street, Buffalo, New York, November 2021. The building began its life as the Genesee Branch of the Buffalo Public Library, one of several period-revival style library buildings designed in the era by city-employed architect Howard LeVan Beck. Dating to 1927, the building features a wealth of Classically-inspired Neo-Renaissance elements such as a pedimented front entrance, blind arches atop the twin windows on the textured buff brick façade, and - most interestingly - a parapet at the roofline perforated by decorative balusters. The Genesee Branch Library closed in 1982 and the building was later purchased by the adjacent Resurrection Lutheran Church, who along with Jericho Road Community Health operate the Resurrection Health Center, part of a network of facilities that provide medical services to underserved, marginalized and indigent communities citywide.
