Description
English: South Vietnam. 1970-01. A resupply on Operation Matilda, the Army's largest armoured operation since World War 2. Sergeant (Sgt) Alan Buckingham of Gympie, Qld, throws rations to the driver of the armoured personnel carrier (APC) nicknamed Jilly, call sign 39J, Trooper Vern Judd of Cobden, Vic. The carrier was given the task of taking the rations back to 3 Troop of B Squadron, 3rd Cavalry Regiment. 270 men in forty four armoured vehicles took part in the eleven day operation which covered a 150 mile journey through three provinces.
