Result of an Intrusion

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: W. Cooper

Mumbai Bombay c. 1900 Lithograph Court sized Divided back 12.10x8.90cm

An interesting very early lithographic card from Bombay by the little-known city artist/publisher W. Cooper, who seems to have specialized in the risque postcard (the same woman seems to be the model for A Trysting Place). Two things are particularly interesting in this card. One is the bicycle, then quite new to the public arena. The second is that the man seems to be a Chinaman given the way his hair is pulled into a pigtail.
Date c. 1900
