Description
English:

Horizontal, black and white photograph showing the Republican convention hall, known as the "Wigwam", under construction. Photograph was taken at the corner of 13th Street and Clark Avenue. The exterior walls of the building appear to be mostly finished. Exterior staircases are still under construction, and some windows are not yet installed. Several workers can be seen around a lime and cement company wagon on the right. A cobblestone street with streetcar tracks runs through the foreground, and City Hall can be seen in the background.

The Republican National Convention was held on June 16-18, 1896. During the convention, William McKinley was nominated for president, and Garret A. Hobart was nominated for vice-president.
