Summary

[edit]
Description

This replica was apparently built for the 1959 Royal Tournament to celebrate 50 years since Bleriot’s channel crossing. Owned by the Shuttleworth Collection it was initially displayed at the Southend Museum and fitted with an original Humber engine. When Southend closed it moved to the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton for display in the Concorde Hall, after which it was displayed for many years in the Terminal at Birmingham Airport. It is now on display at the Midland Air Museum, Coventry Airport, UK. 11-10-2015

The following info is from the Midland Air Museum website:-

“Licence built by the Humber motor company in Coventry, this was basically a Bleriot monoplane similar to that used by Bleriot when he made his famous crossing of the English Channel. This was the first aircraft built in Coventry - our example is a replica, but has a genuine Humber engine.”
